Hey, (classic Michigan introduction)
I'm Allison!
I am a mother of three wonderful and gentle boys', and I have lived in Michigan my entire life. I have a love for travel, motherhood, nature and family life and I love capturing the beauty of all those combined.
Some other facts:
- I have a passion for cooking and baking and I have written a couple of cookbooks
- I really love cute and meaningful details that tell stories
- I really enjoy gardening vegetables, herbs, flowers and raising fruit trees so please, if you want a photo session in a garden LET ME KNOW! I am 100% ready to get creative with you
- I am an easy-going person who takes solace in the simple things in life
- I often day dream about living somewhere northern Michigan and even in the U.P.
- I really enjoy reading and learning
- I am really intrigued with 1900's fashion styles and often sew together my own dresses and skirts
- My husband and I have been together for almost 10 years, we knew one another in high-school and got engaged on a vacation to Maui back in 2015
- I have a millennia of hobbies including weaving with a loom, baking with sourdough, writing, reading, cooking, sewing, quilting and painting and I am expanding that list more and more as the years go by
- I am Catholic and my faith is incredibly important to me as it has brought much peace to my heart in years past
From the beginning.
Back in 2015 I picked up my first camera. It was way more than I could handle at the time and I had no idea what I was doing. I took my first trip to Maui, Hawaii and I brought it with me. To be honest I don't even remember what the make or model of the camera was. All I remember is that it was super heavy and I had maybe two lenses with it. The camera was given to me by a family member who had retired to a new and improved camera so little did I know just how lucky I was to have my hands on such a professional vessel. Fast forward to today, I am incredibly grateful for that camera paving the road for curiosity in photography. I have obviously learned a lot since then and I have so much more that I really want to work towards and expand on!
Creating powerful imagery
for brands.
I started my professional journey by photographing my own cookbooks back in 2018. I realized how much I actually liked taking the photos and cooking more than I actually enjoyed writing. Without the photograph there was nothing. Nothing to advertise and nothing to move the customer to want to cook the recipe that was in front of them. The same goes for businesses. Photographs can help motivate future customers to come in. It can excite them, teach them and motivate them to come in and experience what you have to offer. Nothing excites me more than being able to help someone thrive in their own business! So whatever it is that you do for a profession, I will come in and help you express your business in the best of ways!
For the Future of Photography
I have a lot of visions for AJ Photo and Media. I am working towards creating many magical spaces on my own property to take photos in as well as creating a space for a beautiful studio where I can take beautiful portraits of breastfeeding mothers and sweet littles during the winter time too. I am hopeful for the future of AJ Photo and Media and I cannot wait to see what we can create together.
